Special Session on Intelligent Knowledge-Based and Agent-Based Systems

Special Session on Intelligent Knowledge-Based and Agent-Based Systems

Session Chairs:

Diane J. Cook, Washington State University, cook(at)eecs.wsu.edu
John Zaharakis, Computer Technology Institute, Hellas, jzaharak(at)cti.gr

The physical environments in which we immerse ourselves provide continual opportunities for designing and applying computational assistive agents.  If the computational agents reason about the environment and make decisions to improve our environment then they become intelligent agents that transform the environments into intelligent environments.

The focus of this special session is on the knowledge-based systems and agent-based approaches to making our environments intelligent.  We invite authors to submit papers that describe the design of these systems, their use in the context of intelligent environments, and their application to intelligent environments uses including health monitoring, energy efficiency, and resident safety. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Data mining of information collected in intelligent environments.
  • Activity recognition from sensor data.
  • Case-based reasoning in physical environments.
  • Prediction of sensor or resident events.
  • Human-computer interactions and wearable sensors.
  • Anomaly detection.
  • Spatial and temporal reasoning.
  • Decision making for intelligent environments.
