Call for Special Sessions

IE'18 is seeking proposals to organize focused sessions on novel or emerging topics related to Intelligent Environments.

Special Session submissions will be reviewed through the same process as submissions to the regular program, and papers are expected to meet the same quality standards. Special Session papers will be selected by the session organizers under supervision of the Program Chairs. Each session is expected to have at least three papers related to the session topic. Special Sessions that do not reach a sufficient number of papers may be merged or canceled. In the latter case the accepted papers from the canceled Special Session will be forwarded to a regular session. Papers submitted to special sessions that illustrate promising work but not reaching the quality standard of IE full papers may be redirected to IE Workshops.

Proposers should submit the following information:
- Special Session title
- Short description of the proposed topic
- Short biography of the organizers
- Preliminary program committee for the session

Proposals must be submitted to the Program Chairs through pcie18@intenv.org no later than 1st December 2017.

Proposals will be evaluated Considering topic novelty and importance and organizers' qualifications. The organizers of the selected special sessions will be asked to submit a full call for papers. Advertising of accepted Special Sessions is done by the proponents and also helped by the conference Publicity Chairs.

Deadline for paper submissions to the sessions is the same of regular papers. Papers will be submitted to the same submission system used for the conference, where there will be specific sections for each session. Papers in a special session should not be co-authored by the session chairs, nor by someone in their teams. Papers review to each session will be organized by the session proponent(s) but it will be overseen by the Programme Chairs. Acceptance of the session will require to strictly following the review and acceptance standards of the main conference.

If the session is accepted, papers accepted in the session will be included in the proceedings, but session chairs will not be Proceedings co-editors, since the number could be impractically long. During the event at least one Special Session proponent will have to be present and chair the session, and his/her registration will be waived (there is one free registration per Special Session).
